The Colson Center for Christian Worldview has presented its 2014 Wilberforce Award to Canon Andrew White, Vicar of St George's Church, Baghdad Iraq. The church is the only Anglican church in Iraq and has seen hundreds of its members perish in the violence surrounding them in the Red Zone in Baghdad.

In his acceptance speech, Canon White stated that the Lord has given him two objects in life. One is love and the other is reconciliation.

The William Wilberforce Award is presented each year to the person the board feels has best exemplified the passion and principles of William Wilberforce as a witness of real Christianity in society.

Highlight videos of the ceremony will be posted here early in the week. Other articles of interest are John Stonestreet's interview with Canon White on BreakPoint This Week (May 3, 2014) with text and audio and Dr. Timothy George's tribute in First Things (February 24, 2014).
