Scraps of Scripture

PapyrusNew Evidence for the Truth of the Bible

In this 1995 BreakPoint commentary Chuck reminds us that we can trust our Bibles as reliable and true.

The three fragments of papyrus have been hidden away for a hundred years in an Oxford University library. But a German scholar has uncovered startling new evidence that these tiny scraps of Scripture were authored by the contemporaries of Christ—contemporaries who had firsthand evidence that Jesus was the Son of God.

The Enemy Within

Abortion4Invasion of the Attack Fetuses

In case we need reminding of how ludicrous the rationale is for abortion, this 1997 BreakPoint commentary gives us a glimpse into pro-choice thinking.

In the classic science fiction film, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, aliens from outer space invade people’s bodies as part of a plan to rule Earth. A few weeks ago I couldn’t help wondering if one abortion advocate was watching this fim when she hatched a bizarre new abortion argument.

Political science professor Eileen McDonagh has written a book called Breaking the Abortion Deadlock: From Choice to Consent. McDonagh notes that many Americans have come to believe that human fetuses are actually human beings. That’s a biologically accurate view, of course. Deliver Us From Evil

EvilWhere Does Evil Come From?

Chuck Colson delivered this on BreakPoint Radio October 17, 2000.

As his family mourns the loss of this promising teen, his friends -- including some Christians -- are no doubt asking: Why did God allow this evil thing to happen?

Immigration Two-Step

immiigration_1Chuck’s commentary from August, 2010, seems just as relevant today.

While Arizona burns, Congress fiddles.

OK, maybe that’s a bit harsh, but I can’t get over the political games being played with a vitally important issue: how do we deal with illegal immigration?

Bank CheckA Countercultural Priest

In this BreakPoint archive commentary Chuck reminds us of the kind of integrity we should have as believers. This column first appeared in May, 1996.

Recently I've been writing in BreakPoint about the need for Christians to separate themselves from the culture--not to separate in the sense that the Amish do, but rather to clearly take a stand, to be willing to be countercultural.
