To facilitate use of the Wilberforce Library, all of our reference materials are assigned one of three categories: Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced.
Beginning refers to material written at the high school text book level. The text will be all in English, with simple grammatical structure. It will include minimal reference to outside materials. The Colson Files, found on this site, would be a good example of material that would be in the Beginning category.
Intermediate material is written at the college level. The text will again be in all English, yet may refer occasionally to non-English sources. The material may draw upon secondary sources and be longer or more complex that materials categorized as “Beginning.” Ancient Paths, found on this site, would fit into the Intermediate category.
Advanced material is written at the graduate level of comprehension. Although written in English, the text may draw liberally from non-English sources. These sources may rely heavily on secondary material. The grammatical structure may be highly complex – as many materials in this category may be translated from a foreign language. Summa Theologica by Thomas Aquinas would fit into the Advanced category.
