Yesterday I talked about the assault on gender taking place in Sweden. As Nathalie Rothschild reported in Slate magazine last week, it’s out of control—almost every aspect of society is being remade to be gender neutral.

For example, one preschool has replaced “free playtime” with a micromanaged schedule so children won’t have a chance to think, say or do anything gender related, and one political party even suggested placing gender pedagogues in every preschool in Stockholm to make sure nothing gender distinct is said by students or teachers. This is crazy.

As Rothschild argues, the attempt to replace old rules of gender has resulted in new rules that are far more oppressive. The obvious reality for the overwhelming majority of human beings is gender matters. That’s why the preschool banned free-play in the first place—when children play freely, then tend to play as boys or girls. Perhaps we should foster healthy gender identity, instead of pretending it doesn’t exist.  For thePointRadio.org, I’m John Stonestreet.
