When Kathleen Sebelius announced the contraception mandate and then the so-called “compromise,” it revealed one of the most troubling potential dangers of our recent unprecedented growth of government. Sebelius, under what’s often called “Obamacare,” was given full authority to decide what counts and doesn’t count as healthcare that the government requires. To think that the worldview that governs Sebelius and all future HHS Secretaries will not drive their decisions is naïve at best.

Essentially, with the HHS secretary able to define what must be included in insurance policies and who is required to provide them, the back door is wide open for mandating coverage that includes services more controversial than birth control.

Sebelius’ political career has been strongly backed by Planned Parenthood who’s fighting right now for abortion coverage in Washington state and who admitted, “we want to make sure all insurance policies provide abortion coverage.” If you haven’t already, go to ManhattanDeclaration.org and make your voice heard. I’m John Stonestreet.
