About Issues
Much of the Christian worldview movement centers around response to critical issues in our culture. ColsonCenter.org and our sister sites address these issues in many ways. The following sections from the left column of our navigation bar will help to orient you on issues we are addressing.

Theme of the Week: Sexual Brokenness, Part 1

There just isn't an area of our culture or our daily life more broken and confusing that sexuality. People are dehumanized, reduced to objects for others to exploit, enslaved to addiction, or fed lies about how their inclinations define their identity. This process has degraded our political discourse, darkened our entertainment, and challenged the very meaning of family and human worth.

TMW_sexual-brokenness_575What happened? As John Stonestreet argues in this week's "Two-Minute Warning," it all comes down to a divorce which took place between sexuality and the human person. That divorce, he says, started with a redefinition of sexual freedom.

In the Judeo-Christian worldview, sex isn't simply another biological activity. It's a unique act with both unitive and procreative aspects, upon which God places so much importance that He reserves it only for the lifelong commitment of monogamous marriage. Christians believe this not only because the Bible and Church have always taught it, but because we can see the consequences of ignoring this principle played out in the world around us.

As John argues, our culture during the last few generations has mis-defined "freedom" to mean following our desires. We've taken this idea so seriously that we even define people (for instance, as "homosexuals,") simply because of their desires. In the same way, we have allowed pornography, public indecency, and infidelity in high places to flourish on the grounds that it's only natural. In the name of "sexual freedom," we have embrace all manner of sexual bondage.

This week at the Colson Center, we kick of a four-week series on sexual brokenness. We will tackle the causes, the symptoms, the upcoming challenges and how Christians, as the messengers of God's plan for human sexuality, can offer a better way, and a freedom more beautiful and fulfilling than anything the world knows.

TalkingPoints In this week's Talking Points, T. M. Moore asks, "Is the sexual revolution here to stay?" Should we just accept the scandals, the immorality and the brokenness? The answer, he says, depends on whether Christians can remember and articulate the beautiful and fulfillment of God's design for sex.  >>Read more.
BreakPoint_Daily_Commentary_Stonestreet In Thursday's BreakPoint Commentary, Eric Metaxas offers us a different way to talk about sex to our culture. Christians are largely seen as negative and prudish, Metaxas argues, because we have become too comfortable with imposing rather than proposing. >>Read more.
